NPA Boss Sacked, NIMASA Gets EDs


In an unexpected move, President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday sacked the
Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Omar Suleiman.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr
Reuben Abati, stated that the President has approved the appointment of Mr.
Habibu Abdullahi as a replacement. The new Managing Director hails from Kano
State and was the Acting Executive Director (Finance and Administration) of the
NPA.
He holds a Bachelors degree in Political Science and Masters degree in Public
Administration.
The change of guards also affected some Federal Government parastatals in the
transportation sector, where the President also approved the appointment of
three new Executive Directors for the NPA.
They are David Omonibeke (Executive Director, Marine and Operations); Mr.
Mohammmed Sani Saleh (Executive Director, (Engineering and Technical
Services); and Mr. Olumide Oduntan, Executive Director, Finance and
Administration).
Similarly, the President approved the appointment of three new Executive
Directors for the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
They are Captain Ezekiel Bala Agaba, Executive Director, (Maritime Safety and
Shipping Development); Obi Callistus Nwabueze, (Executive Director, Maritime
Labour and Cabotage Services); and Mr. Baba Haruna Jauro, (Executive Director,
Finance and Administration).
Abati said all the appointments are with immediate effect.
