‘Alao-Akala can’t be party leader’

A group in the Peoples Democratic
Party in Oyo State, Oyo State Dynamic
Pathfinders, has warned that it will be
“politically suicidal” for the national
leadership of the party to recognise
former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala
as the party leader in the state.
The group, in a statement by its Public
Relations Officer, Jide Ajao, on
Thursday, claimed that Alao-Akala had
not shown any sense of remorse “for
his arrogance”.
The statement said, “As far as the
good and loyal members of the party
are concerned, the current status of
Alao-Akala in the Oyo PDP is that of
governorship candidate from a disputed primary.
“His attitude of alienating intelligent people from himself has led to unnecessary disaffection for
the party and this did a lot of damage to the fortunes of the party in the 2011 governorship
election.
“The party had no excuse for losing Oyo State but for Alao-Akala’s arrogance.
“The reality in the Oyo PDP today is that quite a number of trees have fallen on each other, thus
necessitating a careful sorting out of things by the leadership in Abuja if the party is to make any
impact in future elections in the state.”
