Fashola, Tinubu Urge Nigerians To Shun Violence

Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola and his
predecessor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has urged
Nigerians to shun all forms of violence and threats
to the unity of the country. They said it was only in
a peaceful environment that the nation could
emerge great.
The two leaders who spoke during the Eid-el-Kabir
prayers at the Obalende praying ground, appealed
to Nigerians to co-exist peacefully irrespective of
the ethnic and religious differences to ensure the
economic prosperity of the country.
Fashola, who described the celebration as a day of
thanksgiving, emphasised the need for adherents of
the religion to seek peace, stability and progress in
Nigeria.
“We must seek forgiveness from God and forgive
our neighbours and fellow human beings. We must
pray that the philosophy and ideal of sacrifice to
really build our society. Only under the atmosphere
of peace can we prosper and bring economic
prosperity to our people,” he said.
Tinubu, who is also the national leader of the Action
Congress of Nigeria (ACN), said the celebration
reinforces the message of sacrifice for reward and
appealed to Nigerians, particularly those in Lagos
State to embrace tolerance, love and peace.
In his sermon, the Grand Chief Imam of Lagos
State, Sheikh Garba Akinola Ibrahim, condemned
some negative and social vices in the country,
which he identified as fundamentalism under the
guise of Boko Haram, saying Allah warns against
such vices and fraudulent accumulation of wealth.:
