Mendes High School wins Forward Dance Championship


The second season of the ‘Forward Dance Championship,’ a dance competition aimed at developing arts in public secondary schools, held on Tuesday, 20th of June, 2017 at Teslim Balogun Stadium. The competition whose theme is ‘50, Excellent and More’ commemorates Lagos State at 50.
Organised by The Dance Deal Training Foundation with the support of Corporate Dance World and in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, 102 schools from the six educational districts of the state participated in the regional competition. And winning schools from each district were selected to compete at the final stage, where one school will emerge as the 2017 Forward Dance Champion. The winning schools will be provided with state-of-the-art performing arts studios.

“Our focus is to discover talents in youths, and help them harness these talents accurately, giving them an opportunity to pursue their dance dreams,” said Bimbo Obafunwa, President of The Dance Deal Training Foundation, and Artistic Director of Corporate Dance World.
Ashimi Adewale, Permanent Secretary, the ministry of tourism, arts and culture, said:
“this goes to show that this competition will help our young ones focus and channel their energy into other forms of positive engagement that will impact on their future.”
The competition successful held with Mende High School, coming up tops as first prize winners of the sum of N400,000. Gbaja Girl’s Senior High School came second winning a prize of N200,000 and Agbaju Senior Secondary School came third and won the sum of N100,000








The competition is supported by Corporate Dance World, VO3 Designs and Maltina.
